Initial steps to setup ark dedicated server

I am here with a completely new kind of server the ark dedicated server setup.

Here I am discussing prerequisites to setup your Linux server to ark dedicated server.

You will need a linux dedicated server with following:

The server should be 32 bit, but if you have 64bit Linux servers you will need to get it to 32bit, for this you will require binaries to install/run steamcmd. Use the following command to get it.

sudo apt-get install lib32gcc1

Here are the Linux versions you can use, the server requires glibc 2.14 or greater. Ubuntu 14.04 (and newer) and Debian 8 (Jessie) satisfy this requirement automatically, If you have older versions, such as Debian 7 (Wheezy), do not these do not satisfy needs, so you will require version of glibc on a Debian 7 (Wheezy) host:

  1. Add the following lines to /etc/apt/sources.list:
    # Experimental/unstable (sid) repositories
    deb experimental main
    deb sid main
  2. In order to update the host’s available packages list and install the updated glibc library package, you will have to run the following commands via sudo or a root user:
    apt-get update
    apt-get -t experimental install libc6-dev
